Blue was a good rival but a shitty champ
Silver was just a generic edgelord with a redemption arc
May/Brendan weren't really rivals at all desu, they focused on the villain team instead of a rival dynamic this time. But they weren't pursuing the same goal as you so they aren't rivalling you in any way
Barry was based
Cheren was shit, Bianca was ok, Hugh was SHIT
I don't remember the personalities of any of the Kalos Krew except for the dancing dude
Hau was actually pretty cool

I suppose the worst would be the Gen 5 bunch. They should have just pulled a Gen 3, make N the main 'rival' figure and cut Cheren/Bianca. Maybe have N start in your home town instead and gradually get sucked into the Plasma thing would have been cooler.

Without counting the kalos ones because they alone would take the first four spots I find the hoenn ones to be pretty shitty, ORAS makes may a tiny bit better but wally is just as shit

I played the games in order of FrLg-Emerald-HgSs-Platinum-BW-B2W2. Loved Blue, was surprised that May wasn't an asshole, forgot Wally existed. Also I didn't really care for Silver probably cause I played the game at a way later age than everyone else did. Then I got to Plat and assumed Barry would be an asshole rival like Blue and Silver but he wasn't. Cheren was boring, Bianca was nice but boring, Hugh was a good idea but poorly executed.
