>>44801604I genuinely can't grasp how someone could hate Appletun, but since anything from Galar is deemed automatically bad for some reason, allow me to educate you:
A fun and silly design is acceptable and despite being very goofy, Appletun (and Applin for that matter) has a lot of thought put into them. They're based on a mythological worm-like dragon that buried it's way into a hill and lived there, and was commonly depicted as poking it's head/neck out to scare off anyone who came close. Game Freak took that, combined it with the popular idea of Worms living in Apples (except the Worm is a "Wyrm", ie a dragon), and made Applin and Appletun. Appletun is just an Applin who became so massive it burst out of the apple and partially merged with it. It's the Dragon becoming so gigantic that it bursts from the hill. It's leaves even resemble tiny "wings" and it has easily detachable skin that it can shed presumably to get away from predators, like how lizards shed their tails to escape. His color palette is well done, and his shiny is simple but nice (it's a Granny Smith). His ability is surprisingly strong and also makes great sense, and his typing fits him perfectly. He's just a solid mon.
Not my personal favorite, nor even in my top 20, but I like him nonetheless.
For the record Flapple is just the Wyrm becoming a more traditional Dragon, as if it were using the hill as a cocoon or shell to grow wings.
