>>44802728I think Sound honestly has enough weight to stand apart from Normal as a typing. You could have entire new and fun flavored Pokemon based on the concept.
Take Pyroar for example, and base it around its roaring gimmick, or Noivern who kinda advertised the move "Boomburst" despite not receiving STAB. As an elemental, I think of it as manipulating wave frequencies/air vibrations. You could even have a legendary creatively based around the concept, manipulating sound perception to go unnoticed or making incredibly unsettling noise to scare people off.
Now, I think the most logical way to handle how Sound affects other typings, should be based upon the medium of transmission. Sound travels slowest in the air, so that implies Flying being resistant as well as Sound itself, as the noise drowns itself out. It travels faster in liquids and fastest in solids, which implies being SE against Water, Rock, and Steel. I've also read that rate of transmission/no is actually poor on a blade of Grass, so we can add that as a resistance or even immunity depending. Given some research has indicated sound can supposedly even help plant growth, as per Grookey's inspiration. Grass needs a buff, so why not. Due to traveling slowest on through a gas, I think Ghost should also be resistant. Think Gastly, and a lot of ghost are described as "gaseous" in nature.
Many want a Fae nerf, but I'm trying to be logical on the type add, and aside from "noise pollution" I can't seen any reason for the two types to interact. Now, Light & Cosmic... makes no sense to me. They would've been added for the UBs, especially Cosmic given that's what they are, and Necozma's whole entire gimmick is light. They just don't stand on their own like Sound type does. Not expecting sound btw, just giving reasoning as to how it might work.
