everytime I see Pokemon with tools like Alakazam and Conkeldurr or Pokemon with clothes like Sawk and Throh I keep thinking those are part of their bodies which makes things really awkward

I always thought of the spoons as more like training items than tools for battle. Alakazam doesn't need them to battle, but it carries them around to have a small, delicate object to focus and hone its power on. Kind of analogous to body weights.
