Pokemon's appeal was always the connection with nature. The Galar region replaces that with a soulless, consumerist hellscape where all the identity of the region is packed into ugly stadiums and shouting crowds.
It doesn't even make sense. Football isn't a uniquely English thing, the entire world outside the US is obsessed with it. And England isn't even GOOD at it
Some kind of victorian-era aesthetic would have fit the region better. Maybe something like Professor Layton
