What could theoretically be the boots equivalent for doubles?
Something that completely breaks the meta and removes skill from the game.
Maybe an item that lets you bypass protect and gives an immunity to fake out?

Well yes, considering Game Freak really don't give a shit for fanfiction meta rulesets. Otherwise, the official PvP would be singles battles, instead of what they do use for VGC.
But then again, given they have item clause as standard in their rules too, it's also a non-issue in the singles tier. Maybe that's what you need to fix smogon - an item clause. Or you can sit here crying more, but crying here doesn't do a damn thing to fix the meta.

You're retarded, it's for BSS. Yes, hazards do see some usage in 3v3 even if they're not as ubiquitous as in 6v6 Smogon singles.

Gamefreak doesn't care about Smogon specifically but they do make balance changes for singles sometimes, since there are people who play it and they do run tournaments for it. They nerfed Mimikyu which was a far bigger threat in singles than doubles.

Sometimes I wonder why is there no ability that sets trick room on entry now that there's a setter ability for every weather and terrain.

Then I wonder if it's singles or doubles that's gonna suffer the most when that's a thing.

What if it was more like Neutralizing Gas? So the effect only lasts while the user is on the field? I don't know if that would be more or less broken than one that worked like drought.
That pokemon has to stay on the field which leaves it open to attack. But at the same time, it can run protect and other moves to stall for turns.

Mimikyu was a lot more broken in 3v3 singles which is an enormous deal in Japan, Korea and China.

There is actually apparently an old gen singles scene in Japan but they are completely separate from Japan and they do stuff like banning Heracross from ADV apparently.

Depends on what aspect of boots you want to be equivalent.
Boots make switching, the best defensive option, way too powerful by eliminating any consequences. The equivalent to that in doubles would be something that makes protect way too powerful. Maybe an item that makes protect always work no matter how many times in a row it's used.
Boots also buff stall, the most cancerous playstyle. So an item that buffs whatever the most cancerous playstyle in doubles is could also be an equivalent.

Hazards are used to combat stall.
Stall revolves around constant switching, and hazards punish each switch.
