>>44824992You can only make that argument for Nidoran, since they have the same name. From there on, Nidoran follows the Burmy pattern of gender-exclusive evolutions. Nidorino and Nidoking, and Nidorina and Nidoqueen. As for why these Pokemon were created as different species, it was because gender wasn't a thing yet, and at the time, they had different species strengths (unlike other gender forms up until Gen VI, which have the same species strengths). The logic is that Oak fucked up and identified them as two separate species/dex numbers, and then whoever worked on the dex next created stuff like Indeedee that had different species strengths for the same species number. Logic should indicate that Indeedee should have two separate numbers as well.
