I've always wondered how long you could feasibly do this in reality before getting bored of the whole routine and realizing there's not much else to do unless something in the setting radically changed. If there's one thing Gates to Infinity did right it was throwing in that "you can just freely move between the Pokemon and Human world lmao" stuff because I would definitely not want to be stuck there.

A rescue team member would be pulled out of the dungeon by their badge before they could be killed. And game mechanics wise getting turned into an item just counts as fainting so you get pulled back and are fine.

While getting de-itemised is pure mechanics there's an in universe justification for getting pulled out of the dungeon so there's no reason that wouldn't work as it does in game.
