>>44847834Because the show doesn't settle on whether its a continuous story(which shows by having Ash owning previous mons, or that recent interview where they state they're writing current Ash as a champion) or an episodic one(most episodes where the status quo doesn't change) failing at either format because you never see the narrative actually paying off.
Having an episodic show for so many years only work if you don't actually have a bigger narrative(simpsons), otherwise you have to end it at some point (sentai).
The show isn't made for you to get closure, its made for kids to get tired of it, its actively made to be disliked unlike pretty much any other piece of media where if its bad its usually lack of talent, budget/schedule issues or mismanagment or lack of care but never "lets actually make something people will get tired of".
The "narrative" the show tries to push is centered on Ash hence Ash being shit.
And that's not taking into account how much the anime stains on the rest of the franchise. Origin, for all its flaws, is nothing in comparison.
