The Pokeball is able to roll back to it's owner. It's one of the Pokeball's features, the same technology that allows the Pokeball to always face the direction it was thrown from after trapping a Pokemon inside to alert the trainer whether it will be successful capture or not by the light in the center of the ball.

Oh yeah, I see it. Always thought it was a bit weird how the balls exploded in gen 1 and how they opened on 2, but with this I'm pretty sure they are like gashapon cups.
I'm probably the last guy to figure that one out since I've seen the capsule monsters concept art
