It should be an option in settings like Switch/Set. I personally would play doubles exclusively; I already do now on showdown and battle stadium, but you should keep singles available for those who prefer it.

We dont need a simple "Doubles format all the way" game. We need a "Multi Battle format all the way" game. Give us two full teams, with varying degrees of influence over the composition, maybe splitting up and rejoining together during dungeon/plot events. That would be the gimmick that would stir up more interest.
