Not really, Silver was a slightly misguided criminal who never really fully redeemed himself besides calming his autism down.
Paul was just an asshole who wanted to prove his strength and make it to the top.
Paul was definitely inspired by Silver, considering they both lusted for strength after a family member's faliure, but that's where it stops

I think Alain would have made a good replacement champion in a hypothetical Z version, of course, you could still fight Diantha outside the League like Steven. The story angle would be him going on a journey 2 years prior like Dexio and Sina(they could be his rivals in backstory, they could be fleshed out too this way). You can optionally work in his Team Flare affiliation too. Plus this way frogcucks get to have their revenge in some form.

A character that has a secondary goal besides just the pokemon league like Nando. They tried that with the XY "Rivals" but it felt lazy.

What the hell this could actually work. They already tested a asshole rival with Bede and a rival that switched out party members in order to win with Hop. If they could put these traits together they could definitely have a Paul-like character along with Barry as the rivals of the remake. Makes me sad Gamefreak won't deliver.

Already posted here but I just remembered, these guys are cool. Kinda wish they had been in HGSS as Rocket admins or the equivalent to Jessie and James in Yellow/LGPE. Oh well, maybe if let's go johto ever happens.
