Can we talk about how ridiculous the TCG is becoming? Back then, a holographic card was extremely valuable. But today there are 4 different types of rares which include regular rares, ultra rares/ultra rare full arts, rainbow rares, and secret rares (gold full arts). Not only that but some of the sets today have 200+ cards. Seriously, how many different types of rare cards could people want?

I like the art on the cards other than the ugly CG ones. From the commons all the way through ultra rares there's always at least SOME cute, cool or unique artwork in most sets. I got sucked back into collecting this year and I'm putting together a master set of Cosmic Eclipse - 271 cards in the set, but with reverse holos and alternate art promos it comes out to around 500 cards. So many of the cards look so cool and it looks great in a binder. When Vivid Voltage drops I'll probably do it for that set too. So yes I want all the types of rares.

theres no complete list for vivid voltage yet. we're expecting it to contain Japan's Legendary Heartbeat + Shocking Volt Tackle. The former has been out for a while now, the latter has had its full list posted over the course of the last few days on Pokebeach. Personal highlights

Not 100% sure, but I believe the extra varieties are to lower the price of the regular versions of cards. When MTG introduced secret rares, I think this was one of the justifications. They soak up demand, making in-demand cards more affordable to people.

Something I like about the pokemon TCG is that even the common bad cards can have really nice artwork. I have all the scans because of this.

Its unviable in modern formats for the most part to an almost unprecedented degree (last time it was this bad was back during the bw EX era and before that arguably base through gym. SP era still had a shit ton of viable evolution decks before you bring that up). Why set up a stage two when you can just plop down a basic that has more HP, does more damage, and has cheaper attacks?
