Does it really matter though? The movies are almost universally terrible. They're just long filler episodes. I don't like the AU movies, but at least they have the potential to be meaningful.

Why wouldn't they do an alien invasion? Kids movies have done it before, and it's not like the plot would be too scary, overly mature or out of place for the franchise. We already got a minor UB invasion in the games and the Deoxys movie.

Fuck, this, the ultra beasts had the potential to be true antagonists, none of your "The villain in turn is not bad, just misunderstood" movie, I'm talking about Ash and co facing a Pennywise, a nest of space cockroaches, an interdimensional kaiju, a ancient Cthulhu.

And this would have worked since the ultra-beasts were designed in mind to be disturbing, but no, please give us more remakes of old movies, you know that this franchise only lives on nostalgia.
