Do you transfer your bros to later generations or do you keep them in the older ones? If so, why?

I keep them in the games I got them in. I'm willing to transfer from from gens 3-4-5 but haven't yet because I never feel to much need to. I trade around within a generation a lot tho

Always keep them in the game unless they are needed for dex completion in newer games then i will breed and transfer mon up or clone for transfer if cannot breed. The first game in the series usually wont have all mon available

LGPE isn't a spin-off regardless of what your autistic arse tells you. And GO's an iffy call as well, given it was overseen by Game Freak and Masuda even composed the music for it.

I transfer the ones that have sentimental value to me. Usually Pokémon that were traded from friends, etc... Also event mons.
I never really transfer starters though.

I move all of my playthrough teams to PKSM (even the ones from rom hacks) and let them play in Poké Pelago whenever I'm messing around in USUM. Not sure if I can call them "bros" because I don't actually feel any sort of bond or affection towards them, but it seems a little sad to just let them gather dust on an abandoned save file after I've finished the game.
I haven't got around to Gen 8 yet but I imagine I'll store them separately; I wouldn't want to send over my pre-Gen 8 teams to a game where they can't all exist together.

Not really, only did it for a living dex in gen 6, the last time it mattered.

When I want to start over, I usually move my old teams to the game of the same gen that I don't replay

So like
>Gen 1 - Blue
>Gen 2 - Silver
>Gen 3 - Ruby
>Gen 4 - Pearl
>Gen 5 - Black 2
>Gen 6 - Omega Ruby
>Gen 7 - Ultra Sun/LG Pikachu
>Gen 8 - Not a problem due to multiple profiles

I hope the next gen is also on switch, so I don't have to assign a dump game.

I only keep active saves for gen 2 and gen 3 so I don’t do much transferring, even if I had a desire to play modern Pokémon I’d probably keep them there because their movesets are all pre-split and I still haven’t gotten every gold seal in the Frontier.

I ported a bunch of my mons into Diamond. I never bothered transfering them up more because I figured Diamond is a good resting spot for my RSE/FRLG 'mons

I usually inject an unevolved copy instead, that way I can keep them in the old games and don't trivialize fights with a fully evolved/leveled mon.

I'm a schizo who believe that all data have souls and that they are living happily inside their tapes/console even without our interference. So I won't migrate them to newer gen because I don't want to separate them from their buddies forever. It would be different if all transfers are two-way though. If it does, then I just assume them taking a little vacation to another region and can come back home whenever I want.

Those who do, I just want to say that you are a SCUMBAG for separating them. Imagine what you feel if someone did that to you and your family, how do you feel, huh? HUH?

Usually I do. Now I'm not so sure, Gen 8 really made me rethink a lot of things. I didn't really transfer a lot to Shield, mostly just mons I already bred and EV trained and other than that everything stayed in Bank/Ultra Moon. Since March I've been replaying every game and in most gens I don't have a completed game file on standby if I ever need anything in that Gen specifically so I figured I would transfer as little as possible. Makes it more fun, I already have everything and the oldest active file I have is Ultra Moon, so I'll set it up so I can have just about everything I want in Emerald, transfer some mons I specifically breed up to Platinum for it's Battle Frontier and so on.

I might even do living dexes in some of these games.

I briught some pokemon fron gen 6 to 7, but that's the only transfering I've ever done. Unless you count moving pokemon between SwSh files.

I've brought my team from LeafGreen with me up to Gen 7. LeafGreen was my first game so I felt a very special attachment to my bros, I'm waiting for SwSh to add Dragonite, Raikou, Zapdos, and Kabutops so I feel good about getting them in my game and out of Home asap.
