If I played Joker and had fun with him, I might try out his series and gain a new favourite game. If I never played him because "i dunno who that is lol", then not only would I would not have that motivation to play his games, I would lose out on the fun I could be having by playing him - all because he isn't in some made up comfort zone. Game & Watch is one of my favourite video game characters of all time just because I enjoyed playing as him in Melee, and I still play him to this day because I find his kit fun yet I've never played his origin games.
You are the tryhard, Anon. Because you try too hard to force a silly ideal on yourself and others while everyone else is off enjoying them selves, having a blast because they're just doing what's fun for them. Just relax and enjoy the game for what it is - a game.
