Serperior seems like a very high maintenance Pokémon. Why are they handed to beginners? Totodile line also seems to be very advanced level, what with the biting and never letting go.

Meganium would be a very pleasant Pokemon to raise due to the relaxing scent its flower gives off. I wouldn't be caught dead with a Feraligatr that could bite my head off or a Typhlosion that could incinerate my entire body if it so much as got just a little bit angry.

By the time your Snivy becomes a Serperior you'd probably be an experienced enough trainer to deal with it properly

Starters are specifically bred and handed out to kids as they're easy to raise and handle though. I mean, you can dislike the lore, but replacing it with headcanon and crying over it's stupid.
