If you want an example, then look at Sneasel. Not Weavile, just Sneasel. Between Gen 3 and Gen 4 it went down from UU to NU. Why? In Gen three all of its STAB moves were special despite the same special attack stat as fucking Hoppip. Then, in Gen 4, a good chunk of its STAB moves became Physical, as well as gaining some new physical STAB moves and even some coverage moves. Sure, it can't use Shadow Ball properly anymore, but that was shit for it in the first place. Instead, it got Shadow Claw, with a nice increased crit chance. So, why did it drop all the way down to NU?
Because everybody's using Weavile instead! They're using it so much that it's all the way up in OU, which Sneasel was NEVER in. Because even if a Pokemon has gotten an improvement, they're not going to use it if there's a better option. Because as fast and as strong as Sneasel had become, Weavile was stronger and faster.
Even if you ignore literally everything that was given to Sneasle except the moves that turned from special to physical, Sneasle was objectively better off after the split. But it didn't matter to Smogon, because there was a better option.
YOU are the only one here who's ever said that the split didn't improve a single Pokemon, but then whenever someone makes a rebuttal you don't make a proper argument, you just use Smogon's rankings to 'refute' it, as if they're an objectively true unit of measurement.
If you've actually read this, then instead of accusing me of cherry picking, or criticizing a single line of text from my post and acting as if I didn't already address it; answer one single question:
Why should I care about the Smogon ranks? After all, I only play Pokemon for fun.
