Which of the hardcore fans was SwSh supposed to appeal to?
- Story fans got a nonsensical and nonexistent plot
- Exploration fans got a bland wasteland and lost all their dungeons
- Dex fans got the dex cut
- Catch'em'all fans have nothing to challenge them
- Competitive fans lost a huge chunk of their existing competitive options in exchange for some minor quality of life improvements
- Shiny fans have no unique shiny hunting methods making the entire thing dull

The only group I can see who get a benefit out of SwSh over SM/USUM that didn't also get some form of a loss are social fans which, I'm not even sure if a hardcore one of those exists.

But seriously. SwSh has disillusioned me that any Pokemon game will have any decent single player offerings. I already got my competitive fill with Gens 4-6 and Showdown. If I really wanted to play competitively I'd just use the online sim. I play the actual games for the fucking games but it's obvious GF don't give a shit and their fans will happily enable them.

Honestly it was just corporatespeak to calm down fans who were worried about the main series becoming permanently like POGO. No joke, I had a couple friends who refused to buy LGPE not because it was yet another Kanto remake, but because it changed how capturing work.

Competitive fans were the most supportive of Dexit in my experience, because there's a lot of broken-ass mons and a lot of the moves cut were trash anyways. Hidden Power was the only real significant casualty. Then Crown Tundra will come out and undo it all by bringing back all the legendaries, kek

I think the only „hardcore” pandering they sort of got right was compfags
