I grew up on Gen 2 so it has the most nostalgia and soul for me, but I'm not blind to it. I do generally look for the same qualities I liked about Gen 2 in other Pokemon games.
I like Gen 1 for what it is, but it's incredibly overrated by normies and I'm tired of the literal same storyline being fed to us over and over again
I love Gen 3 but the remakes didn't do it justice
Gen 4 specifically Sinnoh was always kind of meh for me but I warmed up to it over the years and while I'm not a fan of it aesthetically that much I do like the gameplay. HGSS is great though
Gen 5 is up there with Gen 2 for me
Gen 6 was a great concept but completely botched overall and Kalos deserved better. So I get really pissed off when people act like it's totally fine and the game that it should have been is the game that it actually was
Gen 7 has its problems but isn't bad, most of the hate for it was just memes and people looking for reasons to be upset to justify the previous gen as being better or just ignore that it happened altogether
Gen 8 has just been an offense to anyone who's been with the series the entire time but it seems like they got the message this time and might actually put in effort again
