I'm the one who said white Hau looked stupid, and I hate when people make Nessa white, because Nessa while not explicitly Indian looking has an exotic look to her because of her eye shape and more angular face. Hop just looks like a white character they made brown to represent black people or Middle Eastern immigrants and Europe. He has the same round face
And yes, making characters black for muh diversity is stupid. That's actually why Leon and Hop look so bad. I actually really like Mallow because she's obviously supposed to be an Hawaiian whose ancestors are Asian, so they gave her Asian features but made her very tan. That's what Hau should've been too. Because he still has the rounder Asian face and anime eyes. He should've been no darker than Kukui who I also have no problem with (except for his outfit).
If you're going to put a black character in a game where everyone else is supposed to look Asian you can't give them the same head shape and eyes. It doesn't work.
Olivia is another good black Pokémon character. So is Kiawe. They both have much sharper/angular facial feature and different shaped eyes.
