IIRC there's not a single NPC who even hints at it being a thing. And each Natural Object can only be triggered by 2 or 3 highly specific moves that you're unlikely to just have on your team at any given moment
other than the one that's triggered by Surf I guess so it's highly improbable that you'd ever stumble upon the feature on your own. And they totally dropped the idea before Gen VI even ended, too.
