No future game has matched the sales of RBY because the novelty wore off by GSC as there is nothing fundamentally new to be excited about

Not every Pokémon is created to be strong or fill a competitive niche. Some of them are created just to make the Pokémon world seem more fleshed out and lively. They go by "what if there was a flower Pokémon instead of just normal flowers?" and that's how they create stuff like Roselia and Flabébé.

Same applies to the battle royale mode
I can 100% understand someone that throw it away after the tutorial since the tutorial battle has you using only one pokemon, defeating the entire point of the battle royale, and when you go back to try it out normally all oponents are like 20 levels above you. I ignored the mode for years because of that.
Come the fuck on gamefreak how do you completely fuck up a mode with such a tiny and retarded mistake.

Megas are objectively one of the shittiest mechanics ever introduced to the series.
Phys/Spec split is immensely overrated and the zoomers who pretend the games are unplayable without it or that it buffed every Pokemon are retarded.
Gen 5 EASILY has the shittiest graphics in the franchise relative to the time it came out.
The dex cut barely matters to anyone who actually plays the games instead of just staring at their collection in boxes, and the fact that the dex cut is what people chose to massively sperg out about and not any of the other dozens of worse issues this franchise has had is pathetic and a good demonstration of how pathetic the standards are of the Pokemon fanbase.

this is why a lot of the time gen wars come down to comparing which game has more content. the gameplay and execution is generally the same so all you can really do is compare amount of content. imagine someone arguing that super mario odyssey was the best mario game because it had the most power moons

I'll also add that battle facilities are really overrated. They basically make the main story mode worthless: Why would you wanna play by official competitive rules against dogshit AI? Not to mention all the damage it does when it comes to gameplay/story integration but that's something only sperglords like me care about

Shudo was a schizophrenic and his intended vision for the anime kept getting more extreme as his schizophrenia worsened. He was eventually poisoned by higher ranking staff and died as a result. The real canon of the Pokemon anime is in his books and blog posts.
