It's based on skill level.
0+ takes everyone into account, 1500+ only accounts for Elos of 1500 or higher, and the 1630+ and 1760+ work the same way, but with even higher Elos.

Well, swooshy largely made that extremely easy to fix aside from 0 IV stuff.
As for how comp works, it's much quicker to watch matches to get a good grasp of how things go. Look up stuff on Pikalytics and watch VGC players on YT and try out whatever you can think of on Showdown so you don't commit to anything yet or borrow rental teams from those same players to get a good feel on team comps.
The basics shouldn't be too hard to grasp if you already know basic Pokemon.

1650 should be pretty safe, 1700+ guaranteed. The requirement isn't as high as you'd think since it's split into 4 regions and Japan (who generally dominate) isn't included.

My final rating was 1650ish and my standing was 1450ish in the May qualifier and that got me seeded 246th out of 256 in the NA Player's Cup.

Change Heat Wave to Burning Jealousy on Torkoal. Heat Wave can double miss and screw you over at a key time, and the only reason you'd use Heat Wave is as a safe fall back move anyways considering you're running Eruption.

Use a defensive Torkoal with Jealousy, Yawn, Protect and Body Press (OHKOs Tyranitar) and GMax LO Venu with 3 attacks (Earth Power > Protect). You might also want to consider Mystical Fire on Hatt, otherwise Corviknight kind of fucks you up if Torkoal goes down.

Yeah, the problem mostly lies in the late game. If your redirector is dead, their Urshi is alive and you spent your max Palo is 100% dead unless your other mon can immediately dispatch it, and you still gotta set it up so scarfshifu doesn't get through.

Who says this? Rillaboom is the only Pokemon getting off EZ Bake Grassy Glides, so with it, Greninja 2.0, and Indeedee Psyspam out a lot of Pokemon become way more valid. Amoongus for example just shat the bed against Rilla, Venus, Incin, Whimsicott, and Cinderace but once they left the meta became suprisingly easy for it to thrive and do its thing.

I am getting caught up in my own planning and am at a standstill, need some advice. My team's core is Justibeat Whimsicott and Terrekion. Cinderace and Primarina are there purely for type coverage, as is Gengar (who covers an essential role as poison typing as well as an answer to other ghosts). Because Zororark has the sash I can't use it on Gengar. I put WP on him thinking if Justibeat fails I can beat up Gengar for the WP. This seems super subpar though as this would probably be the only way Gengar could get a WP off. Either I need to reformat my items or swap some stuff out.
Also, I am not sure what to do with Zororark. an anti-Psychic and anti-ghost suprise measure. I want to stick Sucker Punch on it so I have a plan B for getting some Justified boosts off, but I don't quite know how else to take advantage of him. He's got great utility physically with Knock Off/ Sucker Punch, and specially with Snarl and Burning Jealousy. He's even got both Nasty Plot and Swords Dance, but those require dedicated sets. Whatever I do I want it to synergize with the rest of the team.

I've been running it with Gmax-Blastoise + Snowslash and it's been pretty good so far. I decided not to run aurora on Tales in favor of freeze-dry since everyone kinda already knows and it has some trouble vs Waters. that's as far as I'm willing to share in case I run into any of you tomorrow

You have little to no reason to. VGC doubles teams are built with synergy and that synergy can be for type boosting such as rain/sun, psyspam/grasspam/electricspam in terrains, or surf/discharge into volt/water absorb combos, but you don't want to give an opponent to gain an easy type advantage over your whole team, coverage is important too.

I wouldn't rec a hail core though, even though Snow Cloak/Slush Rush combos can be cheeky Ice is such a garbage defensive typing it's going to do you more harm than good I fear.

say I have a scarf on and my partner uses Max Airstream. Does the scarf'ed mon get the product of the boosts (1.5*1.5=2.25) or does the scarf just set the modifier to +1, ([1+3]/2=x2)?

Also no idea on what to do about Zoroark but I'd say you could use it to pretend you're going for turn 1 dynamax strats with Cinder or Terrakion then hit them with debuffs?

4096 is 2^12
All math done in the Pokemon battle system is done at the integer level and normalized around division by 4096 (super effective moves deal 8192 / 4096 extra damage, not very effective moves deal 2048 / 4096 damage, etc.). As for why they chose 4096, presumably it was so they could have fine granularity and still be able to use integer only operations. If they did everything out of say 64, then if they ever needed to do 1/128th they'd need to use floats or doubles. Nothing in Pokemon ever gets to the 1/4096th level, so 4096 is a very safe number to use.

They serve different roles. A-Marowak is a trick room sweeper and a safe switch for Pokemon weak to electric, normal, or fighting. Cinderace is for hitting fast and hard with little to no setup. Marowak doesn't take up an item slot, so it frees up your LO to be used elsewhere, whereas Cinderace basically requires your LO, so it limits the options on the rest of your team.

It was on cart.
Both times my main lead was at a disadvantage.
Game 1 it was a panic button since I took a risk leading with a squishy mon expecting your typical TR set up with Dusclops and they didn't do it. Switched it out, healed the switch in with Finale while nuking their own squishy mon (don't remember) and stalled out their own dynamax with it (Maxed Corvi Airstreamed it probably expecting it would support).
Game 2 I lead with Alcremie and A-tales and they had Arcanine and one other mon I don't remember. I knew A-tales is 100% getting to get doubled and outsped so I switched it out, nuked the other mon while healing the switch in and stalled them out again for the next turns.

Finale is niche as hell, but damn did it feel great.

You can use both. I have seen Cinderaces with no Fire moves, so essentially you don't even need to factor in his Fire type on teambuilding as much since his type is controlled by you (Sucker Punch and Protect can even change your type without worrying about speed differences)
