what's your favourite spinoff pokemon title and why?
i liked go because it had cultural significance and did something fun with ar which the 3ds couldn't

Snap. I'm glad they're making a sequel but this is the one I was really hoping for a more open world experience, something not on rails where the pokemon bahaviour isn't so scripted, more natural, like a proper safari. You fould explore an uncharted island with jungles and ruins. Maybe they could even throw in some minor sub plot of discovering someone poaching pokemon, and trying to get a picture of their identity.

mystery dungeon is the best in terms of fun replay value & memories. excellent quality.
tcg has a lot of nostalgia to it w/ trading & stealing them on the playground at recess
go was very unique. during the phenomena there was a strangely warm sense of community. even if it meant 40% of them were fat neckbeards it warmed my heart to see them outside "exercising" & socializing. made waaay too many friends with go to just ignore it.

those are essentially mainline games at this point.

Mistery dungeon is my favorite but
that's pretty obvious, so I'll just say puzzle league, pinball and picross GBC are great games made better with pokemon

In general the spin-offs took off and overshadowed the main games a bit in Gen3, even when they always supplemented each other. The Pokemon world got very immersive, even if this probably sounds dump today, when you could do more and more and experience different places, which felt like the theme of Gen3. Becoming a Pokemon and going on adventures in an untamed world was something you dreamed off as a child, and it finally became reality. It was the absolute peak of Pokemon.
