Why isnt it a staple in games? i mean its a pretty good mechanic isn't it?

Also why isn't riding pokemon a thing instead of using bikes why not ride a quad pokemon? and have each pokemon have different attribute when ridden, like an Arcanine or a Ponyta being faster than most? same with surf too make other pokemon faster when ridden
