I've hit top 500 on generation 5 and top 300 on 7 multiple times but only with teams I didn't make myself, or teams where I took someone else's and just changed the moves/spreads. This isn't my "main" but my main wasn't an officially registered account anyway.
Now I try to make my teams from scratch because its more challenging and interesting.
I suck at gen8 OU in general and I never exceeded even 1700 on it but my abysmal GXE and elo is due to an autistic habit of mine. Whenever I was tilted from my games on other generations or angry in general I would just use a team with Pikachu, evee, the kanto starters, and snorlax and just chain-forfeit games on turn one until I was 1k elo.
