Certain Ghost-type Pokemon are the spirits of deceased people, and still others are the spirits of deceased Pokemon. If that Charizard dies, then at least it won't have to suffer another humiliating defeat anymore. But if that Charizard really wants to win so badly and wants another chance to take on Duraludon, so be it. It can come back as a different Pokemon. Maybe even a Honedge. The X and OR entry of Honedge: Apparently this Pokémon is born when a departed spirit inhabits a sword. It attaches itself to people and drinks their life force. That spirit is usually a person, but it may very well be a Pokemon, too. Some Aegislash may be the spirits of Charizards for all we know.
It matters little. Just the thought that Charizards might be reincarnated into Aegislashes is enough.
Curious how Pokemon is a series about certain Pokemon and people being able to be reborn. But rest assured, that doesn't happen here. Leon's Charizard was trained and raised by a child prodigy, who in the games and most likely in the anime universe, too, by one of the most insightful, wise, empathetic, and powerful Champions of all time. That Charizard might have been given to Leon by Mustard. There is that Charmander in SWSH that has the Dynamax Factor. Maybe that Charmander was Mustard's gift to Leon, or perhaps Leon's Charizard might have. The point is. Leon's Charizard is the strongest Pokemon in Galar. He won against Duraludon.
In any case, Duraludon did the best it could do. Leon accepts Raihan as his rival and the closest Gym Leader to the seat of being the Monarch. Leon improvised and gave Charizard certain moves like Dig that it didn't know before. Leon adapted to Duraludon through learning a Ground-type move. Leon is airheaded and often loses his way, but he's no fool. He has far more insight and talent than we all give him credit for.
Don't give up, Charizard.
