None of this random slap regions into an archipelago with nothing organized, no fucking Serebii map which is not canon just because the same shitty meme team that brought us "The Battle Frontier project has started!" happened to put it in their game along with a bunch of other random shit.
The Pokemon world. Is. Earth. Every time we get a new region based on the real world it completes the puzzle a little more. I would hazard a guess that some spaces between regions are smaller than they would be in real life, like Sinnoh is probably closer to Kanto/Johto and not divided by water, Unova is probably on a continent that's mostly uninhabited like a pre-columbian North America but modern tech, Galar might be much farther from Kalos and their Europe would be missing a lot of countries, and the third world probably doesn't exist for the most part.
But think of it like a series limit function where n are the generations, as n approaches infinity f(x) becomes Earth.
