>>44933642On the other hand, a game that's pretty much just battling Pokemon like Stadium or Battle Revolution are less fondly remembered, although neither of them are bad at what they do. If being able to battle Pokemon was all that mattered, people would think DP was good just because you could play with people online (oh wait that's true). Similarly, nobody is super enthusiastic about Pokemon Showdown. Yeah people use it, and I think people like it, but I don't think anybody loves it unless they really hate breeding (in which case just inject lol). As a third example, despite PMD's gameplay being pretty good, most people who are invested in that spin-off are invested because of the world and story. There's more to Pokemon than just battling Pokemon, is what I'm trying to say, and if somebody doesn't necessarily like battling that much (like me, I find it pretty boring generally), HGSS has a lot of other stuff to cover their tastes. Hell, it was one of the strengths GS had over Gen 1 in the first place, all you could do after you caught Mewtwo was battle the Elite 4, catch Pokemon, and play with other people. GS made the world a bit more alive, in it's own small way.
