Where do you think Gen IX will take us?

I think they'll try to do a non-Japan non-America non-Europe region this time, since all 8 generations have been those.

Nah, it originally was set in the real world, before they changed it to being set in a world similar to ours.
Doing it this way reduces time needed to brainstorm a region, as the country/state having its own topography helps them cobble a region together.

The only based locations they should consider would be Italy and Australia since these two are the only ones left out from the list of countries that Japan fascinated the most that GameFreak haven't touch yet. Other countries are just LARPing.

Anyway, Greece or Australia would be the best choices in my eyes. Some ancient Greek god Pokémon would be fun, and the architecture would be mint. Australia's got a lot of weird animals to draw from that don't seem to get referenced a lot by gamefreak, aside from that one time they just made a literal koala a Pokemon.
