You seem to be basing this on how the anime movies are showcasing the first generation? What movie is this from anyways? The 2nd? Yeah those opening shots always try to show of the Pokemon from around the world in their natural habitats as the narrator rambles on how the Pokemon world is so big and mysterious. It would makes sense that they would easily showcase the original 151 in environments best suited for them since back then that's all the Pokemon there was. Now these opening shots try to cram in Pokemon from all generations, they don't look as nice as the original movies did, but that has nothing to do with the actual Pokemon designs themselves, which is what you are complaining about.
