>>44935524The DLC hasn't finished coming out. The first DLC is a sidestory of you going to an island and ending up training under the guy who mentored the current champion. You end up getting a legendary Pokemon that bypasses Protect and other similar moves. The DLC also includes Restricted Sparring, which is a more challenging version of the Battle Tower.
The second DLC is going to be an exploration DLC that deals with going to an arctic zone. You end up exploring ruins and the like. It's also the game's legendary hunt where you can catch the previous game's legendaries. The story isn't fully known yet, but could end up tying into the main story's subplot about exploring the region's history. The DLC also unlocks a doubles tournament where you can team up with another character.
Some people are upset about the DLCs, since it was formerly the kind of content you'd get for free as additional post-game content.
As for the main game, your focus is beating the 8 gym leaders and then taking on the tournament to beat the current champion. There is a subplot about the region's history, but besides Sonia asking your opinion on some things throughout the story, you're basically locked out of getting involved with that or the Rose plot until near the end of the main story. You are not the hero of this story until right until the end, the current champion takes on that role until you finally get to do something.
As for the post-game story, it builds on the main game's subplot about exploring the region's history and how the region's royal family are trying to rewrite history to suit themselves and keep their status while hiding how important Pokemon were in that history. Only other things to really do post-game besides completing the dex are the Battle Tower and re-challenging the championship tournament.
