I like to imagine it’s a physics thing. Combined weight and speed means it’s so difficult to hurt an opponent the only real way it does any damage is falling on them. Even so, 400ish pounds spread across 29 feet is barely enough pressure to even weigh down on something unless it’s totally coiled.

Why won't they just retcon its stats? They already had cranidos of all things as a first boss and its attack stat is ridiculous.

As is, definitely, but when I look at metal coat evolutions I can’t help but wonder why they decided that was it for scyther and onix.
It really just looks like they unnaturally changed due to the metal coat probably melting in the pokeball as they overheat inside the trading machine. What I mean is there should also be a natural evolution for both of them, a split evolution path.

I remember thinking Onix was badass as a kid and then catching one only for it be a total disappointment in offense, even when decked out with decently hard hitting moves. Considering his length and weight, Onix's density is really fucking low. He has to be made of pumice or something, the real question is why he doesn't instantly crumple like a tin can when struck.

This is Game Freak we're talking about here. Asking Game Freak to retcon anything in a meaningful way is like trying to ask an autistic Smash Bros player to stop molesting little girls and take a shower/put deodorant on. It's just not gonna happen and you're waisting time and effort
