Grass really isn't good.
A select handful of grass types are good, but that's because of their movepools, abilities, stats, etc.
Their typing isn't what makes them good.

Yeah, Grassy Terrain boosts, Chlorophyll, Spore, immunity to Spore, and Leech Seed? All terrible traits, and they would totally still have all these things if they weren't Grass-type because I'm a /vp/tard who doesn't play the game and only looks at type charts!

And what about the grass types that can't set up Grassy Terrain, don't get Grassy Glide, don't get any decent STAB, don't get Chlorophyll, don't get Spore, and don't get Leech Seed?
The only things on that list that every Grass type has is immunity to Spore and Leech Seed, and that only helps against other Grass types.

It also resists Ground and Water, two very common things. Before you say Ice Beam many Grass mons aren't one shotted by it.

Nah. They’re saying that divorced of any specific Pokémon, grass as a pure type based only on its elemental properties is bad. While in the total abstract, steel is good with all its resists.

Essentially the “good/bad” type argument they’re making isn’t a practical one as much as a very detached look at types. Which is confusing some people it seems, since in PRACTICE there are still good grass types.
