I agree, Gen 4 is overrated despite the nostalgia carrying it to my favourite in the series. I would never touch diamond or pearl now that I have access to Platinum; but Pearl was the game I got for my birthday, so that’s the one I played as a kid.

Platinum is included in gen 4 being overrated, but there’s no reason to play the objectively inferior DP when Platinum is there instead. Doesn’t mean DP is bad, just that Plat is better.

Gen 4 was my least favorite but I went back and played through pearl and it was actually pretty fun. The nature and winding mountain routes of the region are neat.
It helps that I don’t give a fuck about having a fire type on my team ever, though.

Hey I would have liked it much more if it was more colorful, everything was just a little faster, the route Pokémon weren’t all the same, and the dex was larger and more full/diverse. This was my third Pokémon game so I didn’t have nostalgia I just don’t think it’s good and that’s ok
