You really shouldn't be surprised, they've done this since gen 3. No fucking child knows braille or could EVER figure out how the fuck to get Feebas without a guide. Ever since Masuda took over from Tajiri this franchise shifted HEAVILY into cheap money grabs. Shit dude in gen 3 to catch em all you needed fucking like seven games, two consoles, some peripherals, and a strategy guide or two.

In Gen I it was a new company not realising they had to account for that sort of thing, but after that they were clearly trying to recapture all the playground myths and rumours that went around on how things in the games worked. One of the most fun parts of SwSh for a lot of people here was doing exactly that, trying to figure out how Toxel's evolutions worked.
Of course, they're still incompetent so they come out with shit like G. Yamask's evolution.

RSE does have a braille guide with it's booklet, but what kid actually kept those? I had no idea about Feebas until a friend told me. Yeah that was ridiculous. You had to buy and play through a whole game if you wanted Jirachi. Or pray that one of those in person events was actually hosted near you

All of those are valid complaints except the Shedinja thing. That was a cool evolution method that really highlighted Shedinja's uniqueness without it being retarded, Nincada evolves at level 20, not a lot of people have a full party by the 3rd fucking gym.

I wouldn't consider the braille bad. The manuals had a braille guide and there is a Braille alphabet right there in the game if you can put two and two together.
Though it did help that braille was taught at the school I went to.

It's not just weather, you have to straight up take 49 direct damage. Burn damage? Doesn't count. Self-damage? Doesn't count. I could be wrong but I think healing it also resets the counter so you can't just potion it to keep it alive and take more damage. Better yet, the arch that you have to pass under has absolutely zero indication that you're supposed to go under it and the game never hints at it either.
G. Yamask's evolution method is more bullshit than actual fake rumours on the level of "How to get Sonic in Melee!!11!"

I sure as hell didn't know the braille as a kid and my friends didn't either despite that insert because no kids really read those or could put that together. We didn't get the regis until Emerald came out and my mom bought me it with the strategy guide. Didn't get Feebas or Milotic until then either. I absolutely fucking refuse to believe any kid could figure out how to get Feebas on their own, let alone how to fucking evolve it. The braille sure, maybe, but the stupid fish? No god damn way.

There should be a evolution encyclopedia somewhere in the game or a scanner that detects what evolution method is required for that pokemon.
>Pokemon that evolves by level up
This pokemon needs to train more to evolve.
>Pokemon that evolves by stones or other items
This pokemon needs to touch a certain item to evolve.
>Pokemon that evolves by trading
This pokemon needs to be traded to evolve.
Etc. The information should be in the game. Players shouldn't have to browse websites to figure it out.

Shedinja's was clever. Runerigus should've at least had some fragments of its runestone scattered around the Dusty Bowl or whatever it's called. Malamar was fine. Wurmple being a surprise is its whole gimmick as well as being a way to showcase that Pokemon have hidden stat values. Fuck Feebas, though.

NPCs in Gold mention that trained Pokemon will be stronger than freshly caught Pokemon and that no two Pokemon are the same. You could verify this yourself by catching two of the same Pokemon and seeing different stats. You could verify EVs by having a level 70 Pokemon KO hundreds of low level Pokemon before leveling up to 71m and getting large stat gains, then using a Rare Candy to get to 72 and seeing normal, smaller gains.
