Being a genwunner ≠ started playing with RB. Literally anyone with a brain can see that relying on member berries instead of forging your own identity is bad for the franchise no matter what game the started with. Also the people who have been on the longest are the people who are most tired of Kanto wanking. No one can tell what's the point of LGPE existing when FRLG was already a thing for example.

Also when people use the expression genwunner it's mostly to refer to people who haven't played since the 90's and still think they should have any opinion on the state of the franchise even though they aren't coming back with any amount of pandering or anything short of a time machine.

i grew up with RBY GSC was my first actually owned game

RSE was good to me, grinded a lot in that game
DPP was good, but thats where things started to feel kinda off to me
didn't play BW/BW2/XY

played a little omega ruby was eh

then played sword and shield and was madly disappointed by how easy it was

Then you're simply not a genwunner.
A genwunner only likes Gen 1 and 2 to jump in the "muh childhood" bandwagon but never actually liked pokemon, they're just people affected by pokemania that want to take part in the franchise's discourse.

But if you liked post Gen 2 games and could even bring yourself to play more modern ones then you're not a genwunner though you're still missing out on Gen 5.

This happens in everything my memories are special for the time i got in at the start. I am thankful i collected base set to the neo destiny. As for the games played red to emerald, then got back into diamond and pearl but didn't care for it then hgcs was my favourite. The other gens after just don't do it for me but i assume every kid that was the age we were that is gen one to them. The packs of cards they buy the games with the pokemon etc I don't see why pokemon can't just be a happy thing. Why turn it into cancer like everything else in life.
