as a kid i went through a weird cycle of always picking the one i'd end up liking least for some reason. i loved dinosaurs and monsters but picked squirtle, then charmander and finally my favourite every time after that. for gen 2 i picked cyndaquil and cycled through to totodile, for gen 3 i picked torchic and eventually treecko.
interesting how disproportionate starting with gen 2 is so far
