Maybe I'm optimistic, but to be fair the swsh controversy wasn't necesserely negative overall.

It awakened many people who will now not accept every bullshit from game freak, so pushing them to make better games in the future, hopefully nintendo also understood this and will help/force them to make an actual Game with a capital G now that they moved their offices together.
Plus lots of great new poketubers like DK or guy I linked are rising, winds of change are sweeping over the franchise.

If it took "I can't transfer my stantler into the game after paying for a cloud service months after the game releases" for fans to get ""standards"" and not literally any of the other dozens of worse problems this franchise has had since its inception then the fanbase is beyond help anyway.

Already happened when GameFreak assimilated them, GS is a husk that literally only lives to create mobile puzzle spinoffs.

This. Look around outside the Pokemon fandom. The franchise has had the reputation of being a rehashed mediocre kid's game for a very long time. It was only when they took out the National Dex that you all had standards. And while collecting is a big part of Pokemon's appeal, the national dex is an extremely niche feature because of how time-consuming it is to catch them all. SM/USUM didn't even reward you for doing it.
