I've always liked Haunter better than Gengar. As I kid I didn't like how Gengar was fat and stopped floating. I don't see the appeal.

Gengar was lame as fuck. Both Gastly and Haunter was better. They should have made them all separate single mon lines with different stats. Make Haunter the attack guy, Gengar the bulky tank, and Gastly either the balanced guy or the pre-evo.

Haunter and Gengar had different appeals for me. Haunter felt like "the classic Ghost monster", with the big, angled eyes, the legless, floating body, and the disembodied hands. Gengar felt more like a ghostly doppelganger that played more at being your shadow than at being a disattached spirit.
