I've never seen a legit shiny pokemon... It hurts...

I've been playing these games since red on the og gameboy and I have never once ran into a shiny that wasn't red gyrados... Am I alone?

Do you rush through the games? Do you avoid random battles? If you do, then you likely feel like the games are just a chore. I encountered a shiny onix in gold, a shiny koffing in silver, and a shiny purrloin in black. But that's about it.

have you not played USUM? Shinies are handed out in the wormholes.

I've only ever randomly encountered a handful of pokemon on routes though, found a shiny Drifloon and shiny Gothorita in Y and recently a random shiny Pelipper in UM
I did however get a random shiny Celesteela on the first encounter.

Same, and not for lack of hours. I played gen 2 and 3 unil I dreamed of them and saw them as tetris effect when I shut my eyes. Only the gyarados, and one in an emulator playing at 1000x speed so it double doesn't count.

In my entire life, I think I've found at least 6 or 7 full odds shinies.

This isn't including MM or SOS shinies. I also have to say that REs in Sword and Shield aren't full odds because of the new dex mechanics. You might straight up only either rush through the games or are a casual if you've never found one.

It would of been cool if it was impossible to get a shiny without hacks or manipulation of the code. Like it would actually mean something I was never into reading about what the new games features it had just experience it then when it happens be amazed. Same. I tried chaining for several hours on a few occasions in Let's Go because I was told it was easier, but I still didn't find any. Most of my save files end up around 250 hours so it's not like I haven't played around much. To be honest I'm not sure how I'd value a shiny if I finally got one, because it wouldn't be while playing the story through and who knows what it'd be. A pokemon is only worth something if you want to use it or can give it to someone who would.

I remember seeing a shiny rhyhorn in crystal. I don't remember if it was on my game or a friend's and if I caught it. I remember freaking out and giving it to my friend to catch because I didn't want to fuck it up.

Then I think it was a hoppip in heartGold. and then I found a shiny Golett in Shield when I first went through that ruin area. Hands down my favourite is the Golett.

Only random shinies I got was a purple Shuckle in Silver (gave it back to the green haired faggot) and a Gloom in the post game area of Sinnoh.

So far in Sword I haven't caught nor actively bred for an shiny pokemon but I found a shiny Exploud in the Isle of Armor a month or so ago

In let's go I soft resetted for Shiny Articuno, Moltres,Zapdos, Snorlax and Mewtwo.

The only 2 full-odds shinies I've gotten are a Rhyhorn in VC Crystal grinding in Victory Road before the E4 and a Trapinch in Moon on my way to Tapu Bulu.
Beyond that, there's a long-lost Teddiursa from Emerald and a MM'd Bounsweet in SWSH
I was trying for a MM Honedge but I got tired of hatching eggs so that's on hold at the moment

I've found a few random shinies, including Latias in AS. My first ever (not including Red Gyarados) was a Ducklett in White. I once found a shiny Pidgey in SoulSilver when I didn't have anything to catch it with.

I've never searched or SR'd for a shiny though, because I don't care enough or have the patience for it.

I think that’s it. Only one actively hunted was Skrelp. Caught two shiny Luvdisc before I managed to find a single regular Corsola in OR.

Raids aren't hacked, they're exploited. Small difference, but the way the raids are coded allows people to "hunt" raids, just like magikarp swapping became a thing in Gen VII breeding hunts. It's just taking advantage of how the game's codded to do so.

Is hatching like 2000 eggs to get a shiny a "legit" shiny? Is soft-resetting "legit"? Is chaining and stuff "legit"? I have a bunch of shinies from these sorts of shiny hunting methods.

Bit if you just mean totally random shinies, then for the first 20 years I played these games, I never ran into one of those. First random encounter shiny outside of shiny hunting was a Rattata in the 3DS Virtual Console release of Silver.
