dlc > 3rd versions, simply because the one argument poorfags had left to defend 3rd versions was that you can ignore the original game, wait for the 3rd version and then buy it. you should now be able to do the same with the bundle

that being said, the additional content emerald and platinum had (battle frontier, giratina/rayquaza, etc) is far better than IoA and CT, all I'm saying is selling it as DLC is far better than making a whole new 3rd version that's nearly the same game as the original.

It pisses me off on a lore level (Seviper and Zangoose being pokémon tied thematically but not actually appering in the same versions etc) but I don't mind being forced to trade some pokémon, specially now that you can trade over the internet.

real shame they didn't go for a third version desu, the game needed another year in the oven more than anything else and the changes generally found in third versions such as touch-ups and changes to the region and story or more post-game content could've really elevated SWSH

I always loved SM. My legit only complaint is the rotomdex which I found so annoying that made the game almost unplayable. Rotomdex is even worse in USUM combined with the butchered story makes it a downgrade for me.

luckily I'm done with SWSH. Didn't buy the dlc and don't plan on it. The game was so shit and empty on its own for $80. And then they have the fucking balls to sell the DLC for $35 in two parts.

At least before, I could wait for the third game and buy it for $60. Now to get the whole experience I have to spend over $100 and on top of that if I want to bring over old pokemon I have to pay a subscription fee.

If I was a parent I wouldn't dish out that type of money for one game for one kid. And with all that said I still am looking forward to gen 9 just to see if they actually improve things in about 2 years. I may even want to buy the Sinnoh remakes, but it would have to be either a sequel or something with a new story. I'm so sick of 1-to-1 remakes + 1 quest line and legendaries being sold as a new game.

The level of cutscenes was a bit much, but at least there was an actually kinda alright plot to it. With some polish SM could genuinely be one of the best games.

Now we have SWSH with what feels like the same amount of cutscenes but literally way less substance.

I’ve played multiple hundred hour long JRPGs and SM cutscenes are grating because most offer literally nothing and tell you shit you already know, it had little to do with the amount of cutscenes generally which is why I think Galar is even worse. Sure less cutscenes each one is filled with nothing of worth. Still think gen 7 is alright but a skip cutscene button would have skyrocketed it a ton.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? The amount of cutscenes in a game doesn't matter if you can skip them. The problem isn't the cutscenes in SM, the problem is having an obscene amount of cutscenes you can't fucking skip, making replaying the game a huge slog. Cutscene skip has been a staple in games for like 20 years and yet GF can't implement it, that's the real issue here.

The actual issue with SM's cutscenes is that there's too many relative to how much is actually going on with the plot. The core of SM's story is Lillie and her family (which is why people had meltdowns when USUM made them less important) but the game also tries to get you to care about characters like Hau who don't really play into that plotline at all.

I could see them doing two separate expansion passes and releasing physical copies of bundles separately. So next year they'll release two more passes and a physical bundle of the games plus those. Players will either have to buy the game twice to get all four expansions or they can buy one pass physically via a bundle and the other digitally.
