I'd personally be happy if they took an empty year to make a decent game but we know they don't do empty years anymore.

I say it's probably DP remakes, it's the 25th anniversary next year so they need to do something special and nostalgia-filled, plus all the hints we got for Sinnoh, like all fossils being present except gen 4's.
