I'm the one that's saying they deliberately chose to refer to the eponymous Pocket Monsters with classifications that we, the consumers of the franchise, from an outsider perspective, are familiar with, and could be realistically applied to species that aren't already in line with familiar concepts to humans, such as common flora fauna, objects or elements from humans within the Pokemon world itself which, of course, is in the very same manner we ourselves classify and name the vast amount of concepts, objects and entities of the world as we see fit.
But at the same time we can say "bullshit" to it all because Pokemon GO makes the real world a part of the Pokemon Multiverse, and Professor Willow is entirely capable of connecting to the rest of the multiverse as seen with GO's ability to transfer to other games and his interactions with a Professor Oak from the Let's Go Games.
