How hard is it to just restrict both healing items and Pokemon amount for gym leader, Elite 4, and Champion battles? Seems like an easy fix for "difficulty". Already happens in battle facilities.

Because that's something the player has freedom to impose on themselves? Why gimp everyone else when you can just choose to limit the healing items on your own?

That's not real difficulty. Real difficulty is challenging the player and making them play skillfully. Restricting healing items doesn't do that. If we're still over leveled it has no impact.

It is arguably harder than you, the person who wants the game to be harder, simply not using items. Kids might need those items to cheese it, but if you don't need them, don't use them.

Self-imposed difficulty is so boring barring things like nuzlocke that completely changes the game. Im not asking game freak to hold my hand, i just want gamefreak to make a game with an arbitrary difficulty setting so i dont have to play like an autist.

There's another point in having Gamefreak make the difficulty themselves: more people get to experience it. I bet more people have struggled with a Totem battle than have attempted a Nuzlocke, because one of them was actual official design and the other is a self imposed challenge that's barely recognized and was never meant to be.
