Pokemon has always been a children's game first and foremost. To do away with the cartoon-y style in favor of something like Modern Warfare of whatever PS5/X-Box games you derelict straight bros are having wet dreams about would be suicide for them.
Give it up. Pokemon will always stick to an anime-oriented design and simplistic style, while still advancing their overworld assets.
