Kinda, because the gameplay would be different enough. I would prefer if they changed the story (but I know most people would pointlessly whine about it if they did) or made a new game. But that wouldn't sell as well as the remake will. At least I'd get to see the town with RTDX-like graphics and maybe RTDX-style music, which I like. I hope they include more new content, with all the newer Pokémon, that's what I dislike in RTDX. I would prefer a new game, but I'm not entirely opposed to an Explorers DX.

Absolutely. The legitimate only flaw I found in RTDX was the non-explorable friend areas, but even then it was a good trade-off because now they can hold 48 Pokemon.

They made the old content more worthwhile. There was very little reason to 100% the originals unless you were a hardcore autist. Enough stuff was at least tweaked for it to feel fresh, at least.
By that logic, HGSS barely offered any new content.

Nailed it. The sprites in PMD1 and PMD2 aren't always great but they aged like fine wine compared to the cheap shit models in the later games.

If anything what I'm really hoping for is for BRT and EoS to get figured out for romhacking.

There's been a lot of progress in the last year or so, not just for the 2D games but also the 3D ones

Honestly while a remake of PMD2 sounds interesting, I would of rather see a sequel to it taking place in Grovyles future with Dusknoir actually starting a Guild and shit and possibly dealing with extraterrestrial and extradimensional threats like the UBs and Eternatus.

Feels like the hype for the rescue team remake died immediately after it was released, the game was just completely overshadowed by animal crossing. I also still have my copy of sky and I'm not really interested in replaying it but I guess it would be cool to see a sky port to gauge interest in future mystery dungeon games.

HGSS has gens 3 and 4 plus more "new" content copypasted from Platinum PLUS actual new content. I like RTDX, but they didn't even copypaste all of the content from PSMD and didn't really add any new content, only replacement mechanics for IQ. It's not the same as HGSS.

The only people who cared or even knew about the game at all were people who have already played PMD before and were fans.
NOBODY who is new came in from RTDX and that's always a massive doom signal for any series.

Chunsoft has been remaking Mystery Dungeon games long before they remade the first Pokémon one. They're used to it, Like Game Freak they've been doing remakes before everyone started doing them in the last couple years.

It did get some people interested in the series, actually. The game that didn't bring the series any new fans is Super. Even Gates to Infinity got a bunch of kids into the series. It's true that Animal Crossing New Horizons overshadowed RTDX though.

You know what I thought was interesting? When PSMD released, there was a lot of discussion here on /vp/. Some loved it and some hated it, but either way people here cared, while the rest of the Internet didn't have much to say about it. With RTDX it was the opposite. /vp/ stopped talking about it soon after it got released, while it was more successful elsewhere.

There isn't really much to talk about with RTDX because aside from a few mechanical changes the game is a 1:1 copy of something we have already played to death, there was so little new that even saying it had new content is arguably misleading.

GtI was when it started to go downhill. Super brought it back up a bit but DX was falling into a sink hole in terms of quality.
