It baffles me that people still confuse Ghost and Dark so heavily with each other. They are distinct. Ghost is actually the Undead Type and Shadow Type combined into one thing. They're the ones who have all the shadow powers. Dark is more like Dark-Hearted, Sinister or Wicked or something like that.
Sometimes Dark Types have themes of pitch darkness or moonless nights or stuff, but that's not because Dark is primarily about that. Dark is for evil shit, and the only reason they are colored black and associated with darkness is because the entire Type is operating under the Dark is Evil trope. They're evil first, any actual darkness themes are ancillary.
