Lucas is actually the best male protag design too, you just have shit taste. Lemme guess: "His hat and scarf are gay", aka "I'm insecure so anything that isn't a baseball cap, a hoodie, or anything my mom can't find at Walmart makes me shit myself".

I can see them doing that in the remake since personality changes have been done before (esp. oras). Also what you described pretty much already fits Dawn's manga counterpart Platina, and the rich boy/ lady trainer class archtype could work for npc Lucas/ Dawn since their parents are scientists. A slight manga reference like that would be very soul
